Damon Corrie

Damon CorrieDamon Gerard Corrie, apart from being the inheritor of the now ceremonial traditional Lokono-Arawak Paramount Chieftaincy (and the current democratically elected Sovereign Chief of the Confederacy) is also a self-taught Amerindian Historian and author of the four books:
  • The Arawaks
  • An English to Arawak Dictionary
  • A Guide to Barbadian Herpetofauna - including introduced species
  • A Synopsis of the History & Ancestry of the Corrie Family

While his passport gives Guyana as his country of residence, he uses Barbados as his office hub since the infrastructure there is better than in Guyana.

Damon refers to himself as the "head guide" on these trips and he does accompany every tour to Guyana. Other guides participating during trips are all part of his family operation, being brothers, sisters, and cousins etc. of his wife or himself.

He is "almost fluent in Spanish" (his father is a Venezuelan citizen), and he has two special areas of 'ecological expertise': "Herptiles" (the world of reptiles and amphibians), and "Psittacines" (parrots). He writes:

"Though I'm no ornithologist our tours are damned good at revealing Macaws, parrots, waterfowl, hawks, finches etc. - you name it! Folks always see more avian life than anything else."

Damon conducts EarthFoot's "Classic Ecotour Hosted by Indigious People" experience.
